  • Infusing Critical and Creative Thinking Skills into Content Instruction

In a technologically and multiculturally fast growing world we live in, knowledge is being continuously updated and, therefore, improving the quality of students thinking and perception becomes an important goal of education. This requires education to develop individuals with the knowledge of cognitive processes, intellectual dispositions and thinking skills necessary to engage in lifelong learning. Consequently, students become skillfully trained to be system thinkers and continuous learner and are able to cope with the requirements of this fast changing working world and have a better chance to accomplish their personal fulfillments and professional targets.

My approach is to teach students “how to think” by incorporating, smoothly, an atmosphere of thoughtfulness to the classroom. This is accomplished by introducing, simultaneously, various thinking skills along with cooperative learning technique into the curriculum (i.e. teaching thinking skills simultaneously with subject content). The approach involves students in thoughtful learning of the regular course contents and helps them to develop a better and deeper understanding of the topic taught.  It transforms students from passive listeners to active learners which results in deepening their understanding of the topic, therefore, transforming the classroom from regular class to a thinking culture. My studies are designed to accommodate a wide spectrum of students’ comprehension and intellectual levels.
